VISCOUS( IDENTITY ) ( 3D DESIGN ) ( MOTION GRAPHIC )
In today's digital world, large social platforms attract users with personalized free experiences, but often at a hidden cost to their personal data. Viscous is an interactive design project that aims to reveal these hidden data collections through a seemingly generic personality quiz. The experience advertises that participants will receive a unique, customized cube based on their input. Behind this veil of truth, the website secretly collects information that users might be unaware of. The unique set of glyphs designed for this project symbolizes phrases or paragraphs we often overlook when surfing the web, such as “terms and conditions.”

This project was inspired by the idea of digital feudalism, which compares current digital platforms to medieval feudal societies. Large companies are similar to feudal lords holding control of digital platforms, while users and content creators are like serfs who work on land they do not own and use private property to trade for goods and services. By giving these relationships form, Viscous critically explores how easily we surrender our digital footprints to unfamiliar platforms and aims to raise awareness about personal data privacy.
