NUSHU TYPESETTER( INTERACTION ) ( PUBLICATION )
Nushu Typesetter is a typesetting tool developed specifically for the Nushu script—an rare syllabic writing system historically used by women in Jiangyong, China. The tool aims to make it easier for those interested in Nushu to typeset the script for print and publishing purposes.
As a demonstration of the tool’s application, I designed and produced a printed publication. The layout draws inspiration from traditional Nushu writing formats, and the content features adapted women’s poems and folk songs written by historical female authors.
The project was created using the typeface Nyushu Fengqi, designed by MY1L (綿飴). My sincere thanks to the type designer—this work would not have been possible without it.
